Nevaeh stopped by her parents house before heading to the school dance.

Grace: Nevaeh, you look so pretty.

Nev: Thanks mama!

Grace: You know Karen stopped by here today. She had to have told you she was. I am not too happy about what she had to say.

Nev: Ugh!! It’s always something with her. She loves to fuss. Erran and I are getting along. My grades are up. What now?!?

Grace: First, check your ‘tude and fix your face. Second, that woman has a grown son, a new baby of her own, and a home to take care of. You plus little Trent is more weight on her. We help financially but you responsibilities too. I don’t care if love is back in the air for you and Erran. You both need to be taking care of Trent whether the sun is up or down. There is no off time to being a parent. It’s 24/7.

Nev: Mom, I know. We both been so tired at night that we pass out. I’m sorry. I am going to do better.

Grace: I don’t want no sorries. I want action. Let us see it. Dad and I can help on the weekends if you have things for school to finish up. No play time though for you and Erran. I am not keeping a baby while you party. You partied enough when you got pregnant.

Nev: I know mom. Only a few more months and we will be finished with high school and…

Grace: Cutting off Nev. And you need to get your ish together fast! You two need a plan for jobs, daycare, college, all of the above.

Nev: Yes ma’am.

Grace: Oh, don’t do that. I am going to get Trent from Karen while you two go to the school dance. Do not pick him up and have him in the night air. I expect to see you and Erran here for breakfast by 9 in the morning and take your son with you when you leave.

Nev: I will, mama! In a sing-song tone: I love you. See you later!

Karen (Erran’s mom) went to see Nevaeh’s parents. Their daughter and her son are getting along now and focusing on finishing high school, but they have been leaving the nighttime care of their son Trent to Karen. She may be his grandmother, but she is certainly not about to be the one taking the most responsibility. Little Trent misses his mama. Maybe his grandma Grace can talk some sense into her.
